Pablo also lived a very fascinating life which is great for throwing in some fun facts to engage students' attention. For example, did you know that his first word was "piz" short for "Lapiz" the spanish word for pencil? Or that he was able to draw before he could speak?
A fun little project that I created for students who were finished early was to visit the site called Picasso Head. Here student were able to create online Picasso Portraits that looked equally as creative. This got me thinking that the site would be great to use as an introductory lesson or follow up lesson in the computer lab. If you are interested in teaching Picasso to your students I would strongly suggest checking out the site. Here are a few creations that have been created on the site.

These are so much fun! (as were the Picasso Pumpkins!) I like the way you included personal details about the artist as well. Is the top photo also one you created on Picasso Head or it is an actual Picasso? Hmmm...funny I can't tell! I actually haven't ever taught about Picasso but maybe I was looking at his art too seriously! The materials you have shared have inspired me to take another look.
ReplyDeleteThe top one is from Picasso Head! I was just as amazed how similar they can look. I will say it was a lot of fun creating some on the site. It is so easy to spend and hour just playing around with all the different possibilities the site provides. I am a big Picasso fan after my lessons and so were my students. So happy I could inspire you to take a second look :)
